Walked in Philly
This past weekend Phil and I were in Philadelphia at a conference. The weather was absolutely wonderful and I was able to get in two great walks. I also got alot of praise for what I am training for and picked up a couple of donors I hope. I had two interesting experiences. On my Friday walk I was approached by a homeless guy and asked for money while he was on a cellphone. When I stared at the phone he said "hey lady it's prepaid!" Well duh - with the money he begs from people no doubt! Those of you who walk (or jog or run or bike - although I have no personal knowledge of those endeavors) know that as you pass people walking toward you, you generally nod or say hello or smile. On my Saturday walk a man was walking toward me on South Street and when he was about two feet in front of me he said "You know, if you throw a chicken out into the street it's a $10 fine and if you are disgruntled and don't pick it up it's $20 more." So as we passed each other I smiled and said "Good to know." Each of us continued on our way. So if you're ever in Philly, don't throw a chicken in the street or if you do, be nice and pick it up.
